The shoulder is the most mobile large joint in the human body and is often injured by athletes of all ages. Common injuries include rotator cuff tears, dislocation and labral tears. Most sports injuries requiring surgical intervention can be managed arthroscopically (minimally invasive).

Arthritis

Arthritis is the “wearing out” condition involving the breakdown of cartilage in the joints. When cartilage wears away, the bones rub against each other, causing pain and stiffness. Similar to the hip and the knee, shoulder replacement is an option for those who suffer from shoulder arthritis.

Fractures

Traumatic injuries of the shoulder may result in the disruption of normal anatomy leading to pain and dysfunction. Appropriate orthopaedic treatment is necessary to restore normal function and limit recovery time.

Quality Orthopaedic Care

Dr. Rabenold treats all orthopaedic conditions while specializing in disorders, injuries and surgery of the shoulder and elbow. He completed his shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio chaired by Charles A. Rockwood Jr., M.D. Dr. Rabenold also furthered his shoulder training with international experts Pascal Boileau M.D. and Laurent Lafosse M.D. in Nice and Annecy, France. Dr. Rabenold is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.

Currently in private practice, Dr. Rabenold participates in educating orthopaedic surgeons in shoulder techniques at both a regional and national level. He also is involved in clinical research and most recently presented at the AAOS Annual Meeting.

Prior to his shoulder training, Dr. Rabenold obtained his medical degree at State University of New York at Syracuse and completed a five year general orthopaedic residency training at The University of Toledo Medical Center.
